Many bettors who also dabble in online poker markets will be familiar with Carbon Sports. Carbon Sports is the sportsbook arm of the Carbon Poker, which also offers an online casino. The sportsbook accepts players internationally, but is also a huge player in US betting markets.
Based in Antigua and licensed by the Antigua Gaming Commission, Carbon has gradually become one of the most trusted sites in US online gambling markets – particularly because many other sites left the market. Especially in recent years, Carbon has emerged as a top choice for bettors from the States.
Carbon Sports was one of the first sites to establish a mobile betting app for US players. More optimized than most apps, the mobile platform is available on almost all mobile devices, including Apple, Android and Windows devices. Carbon Sports is also one of the few US-facing gambling sites to provide not only a mobile sportsbook, but mobile options for both an online casino and poker room.
Top Features
Carbon Sports has one of the best overall mobile gambling sites for US online gamblers, but its sports product is a bit of a mixed bag. It certainly is a more than capable app – especially in the US market – but it is not yet elite.
The platform functions extremely well for bettors looking for the full list of odds offered on CarbonSports.ag, including live betting or in-play markets. It is easy to use and has a user interface that is smooth and professional. There seem to be very few bugs and slowdowns, which is especially critical for those using live betting markets, something Carbon Sports offers in large numbers.
Players have a level of customization that is not seen by many other US-facing sportsbooks’ mobile products. Bettors can star their favorite markets, giving them quicker access when betting on the go. Viewing their past bet history, pending bets, and other account details are also easily accessible.
Like most US-facing betting platforms, Carbon Sports’ does not allow players to withdraw via mobile. This is fairly typical for most sites servicing US players, and I make it a point to praise those sites in my other reviews that do offer mobile withdrawals. They do however offer instant mobile deposits. Credit cards may be used to fund accounts instantly via mobile.
Presentation
The application borrows the same blue and grey color scheme that is utilized on the desktop site and is designed impressively. As far as basic function and ease-of-use, it ranks relatively high, especially among US-facing apps.
It is sleek and has the look of a professional product, but still doesn’t have much that impresses me as a standout feature. Carbon crushes a lot of the mobile platforms in the look and feel department, but doesn’t have enough to make it a top-tier program.
Betting Markets
As I mentioned above, Carbon Sports will have all of its betting markets available for mobile users. This feature is quite common among mobile sites these days, but not all sportsbooks give bettors the full list of markets in the mobile site.
In addition to sportsbook and casino offerings, Carbon has a large online poker room that is made up mostly of US players. Live betting and extensive prop bets focus mostly on popular American sports leagues such as the NHL, NBA, MLB, NHL and other college sports. There is a full range of parlays, teasers, if-bets, reverses and more. Internationally, bettors aren’t left out in the cold either; there are various sports leagues around the world available for betting.
Bonuses and Promotions
Carbon Sports has an exclusive mobile bonus which allows players a bet up to $25 for free on their first wager on the platform. They will be credited with a free play of the same amount. First time depositors will receive a 50% Deposit Bonus up to $250 in free plays. There are also many seasonal and sport-specific promotions offered throughout the year.
Final Thoughts
Carbon Sports is certainly a worthwhile option in the US market, and has brought some competition to the US online sports betting scene. As far as sportsbooks go, the odds and markets are excellent.
This mobile product is above average for being a US-facing book, but is not anything groundbreaking. With that being said, the platform functions quickly and error-free. For such a professional looking product, I just expected a bit more polish and some innovation. Although the mobile app is hyped quite heavily by management, I don’t think it lives up to its strong praise.
